More than a fan
Weekend Weebs began in 2021 as a severely inconsistent podcast between Alonzo and Jenna, two friends who were casual anime fans and wanted to talk about it. As most podcasts do, it went on indefinite hiatus after just a few episodes (five to be exact). Fun fact, only 4% of podcasts make it past ten episodes!
Fast forward to 2022, Jason asks Alonzo where the podcast went. Alonzo explains that it is on an indefinite hiatus and Jason offers to fill Jenna’s spot. On 10/12/2022 we put out our first episode: 1! Mid Hero Academia. The rest is history!
In 2022 Alonzo also started another anime podcast called the Straw Hat PRTS. Alonzo, Chris, Montay, and Adam started a One Piece podcast, talking about it as Alonzo caught up on the legendary anime. We were pretty inconsistent and didn’t even make an episode in 2024. As of 2025, The Straw Hat PRTS are recording monthly.
In December 2024, Alonzo started writing articles about anime and manga after Jason took a break from the podcast. Now he’s obsessed with writing.
