Thank the Shonen Jump Gods for another Kagurabachi Sunday. Kagurabachi Chapter 82 released on June 6, 2025 at 11 AM EST as usual on the Manga Plus app. It’s another peak chapter in the books. Read till the end for my Kagurabachi 83 predictions!
Kagurabachi Chapter 82 Summary:
- Chihiro realizes that Uruha is alive.
- Flashback shows Uruha resurrecting after being killed by Samura.
- Uruha and Hakuri prepare to fight.
- Chihiro pleads with Samura to let him help stop the Malediction.
- Samura declines his offer and lunges at Chihiro with the White Purity Style.
- Chihiro stands his ground and clashes with Samura in midair.

Every Example of Samura’s Impassiveness:
Seiichi Samura is impassiveness – a lack of emotion or emotional expressiveness – personified. Every issue he’s had postwar has been because of his own inability to communicate his feelings. When I look at Samura, I see so many other men (including myself) who struggle with just saying what the hell is going on. Let’s start from the beginning of the timeline.
- Inori (Samura’s ex and Iori’s mother) tells Iori that Samura is “the worst.” She describes him as “hung up on the past” and neglectful. He’s the type of guy she would never want Iori to fall for.
- Samura didn’t want to take care of Iori because of the killing he did in the Seitei War.
- Samura comes to Ichiki and expresses his concerns about Yura, Malediction, and the future. This was a rare moment of vulnerability from him.
- Iori gets bullied at school because of rumors spread about the sword bearers. She holds in her emotions for six months because she doesn’t want Samura to worry and leave her again.
- Samura catches on, but instead of talking it out with Iori, he ships her off to live with her aunt.
- While talking to Yura after Kunishige was killed, Samura thinks: “There’s no point in life anyway when I cause nothing but misery for those closest to me.”
- Three and a half years later, Samura sends the Masumi to erase Iori’s memory. Samura’s last words to Iori were: “I’m sorry I caused you nothing but pain.”
- Samura forms a contract with Yura in secret.
- Samura knocks everyone out and cuts down Uruha without fully explaining his plan. The only hint he gave Uruha was: “The only one about to die is the hero version of you.”
- He cuts down Chihiro and tries to take Enten from him without explaining anything.
- He shows up at the Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel and says nothing to his daughter he hasn’t seen in years. He orders Ro to erase her memory again.
- Faced with Chihiro, Samura still does not tell him his full plan.
- Chihiro figures out Uruha is alive on his own. Samura still won’t accept help from him.
I listed all these examples to show that Samura is the creator of his own misery. If he opened up more, many events in the story might never have taken place. His ex would still be his wife, Iori would be in his life, he wouldn’t feel like he has to stop Malediction by himself, and maybe the Kamunabi would actually be open to his plan of killing the Sword Master. He wouldn’t know because he never asks. He never asks for anyone’s opinion, and that’s why he’s having such a hard time now.
If your wife loves you and your daughter loves you, why are you so worried about your past? Why is he so worried about not being worthy of love when he already has it? He has imposter syndrome about being a loving father and husband. He didn’t ask Iori if she wanted to stay with him. He didn’t ask Chihiro if he would fight by his side. He didn’t ask the Masumi if they would continue serving him. He didn’t ask the Kamunabi if he could kill the Sword Master and spare the other bearers. He didn’t ask Uruha to help him with his plan. Despite his plan going up in flames, he still refuses help from Chihiro. His uncooperative nature will be his undoing!

Uruha’s Resurrection & Chihiro’s Power Evolution:
I feel bad for Uruha. He was involved in a plan against his will, betrayed, and cut down by the person he respects most in the world. Even though they fought in the war together, Samura doesn’t respect Uruha enough to include him in his plan. He wants to shoulder it all alone. It must have been tough for Uruha to lay there for days while his body recovered. Injuries and sickness are the most common times for self-reflection because you can’t distract yourself with daily tasks.
This is speculative, but I believe Chihiro will make his biggest jump in skill yet during his battle with Samura. He knows Samura won’t actually kill him. That gives Chihiro the green light to go all out, and I think we’ll see him do things with Enten we never even thought were possible. Despite his efforts, Chihiro will lose. I still think he and Samura will join forces in the end. It won’t be Chihiro’s blade that reaches Samura’s heart, but Iori’s words that shake him to his core.
