Mikaboshi King Controversy

The king of the Mikaboshi is an old man, and Chiaki Soga is 19 at the youngest. It’s pretty gross for an old man to impregnate a young woman, let alone the fact that it’s forced. Unfortunately, arrangements like these aren’t as rare as you think, even today.

What I’d like to know is if this is a mistranslation or a misinterpretation. It would make much more sense for the crown prince, Ariu, and Princess Soga to be arranged rather than the king, whose lifespan is much less. I’m hoping that’s the case, but even then, it would still be gross.

Mikaboshi King

Subjecting a young woman to such a fate is far worse than simply eliminating the entire bloodline. Takeru is doing a great job of showing why this is personal. The Mikaboshi don’t just want resources. The resources are secondary to the Mikaboshi returning to the position of power they once held and solidifying their legacy. They could just go to war and win, but instead, they want to take the Soga clan’s most precious person, defile them, kill their family, and wield their power.

Sorcery Bureau Meeting Lore

A lot of lore was dropped in this meeting:

  • Seven out of the nine current Kamunabi leaders were shown.
  • Another version of the Masumi was shown.
  • Kaichi is mentioned for the first time since Kazane attempted to use it against Sojo.
  • Hiyuki’s clan is revealed to be the Kagari clan, who wield Flame Bone.
Sorcery Bureau Meeting

The Bureau seems to be just as strapped for firepower as they are in the present. They possess great power like Kaichi and Flame Bone but can’t depend on them for some reason. Their strongest fighters were decimated. They are forced to rely on a Rokuhira. Meanwhile, evil sorcerer groups like the Sazanami are moving freely. Not much has changed 20 years later. Do Yasen, Yura, and Akemura have a point?

Kagurabachi Theory: Is Chihiro’s father not Kunishige?

Theories have been swirling around that Chihiro’s dad may actually be Ariu or the Mikaboshi king. Why? I’m not sure, but let’s entertain it:

Reasons why Kunishige is Chihiro’s father:
  • The keen eye ability
  • They look related
  • Chihiro’s natural gift for swordplay
  • The lack of insect sorcery
Reasons why Chihiro is a Mikaboshi:
  • The Mikaboshi king said he wants Chiaki
  • Blood test results by the Kamunabi were never revealed
Rokuhira family

So far, it’s looking like Kunishige is the father, but we will see.
