Short answer: yes. Long answer…
Kagurabachi is a dark fantasy manga with a setting resembling the early ’90s. It follows Chihiro Rokuhira as he sets out to avenge his father and protect the Rokuhira legacy.
It’s good by many standards, but let’s break down what you mean by “good.”
“Good” can be used in many ways, but when describing entertainment, people usually use it to say something is either enjoyable, high-quality, or both. Many things are one or the other. In my opinion, Kagurabachi is not one of those things.

I love Fast and Furious. I think it’s a good series. I enjoy it. The action and effects are quality. However, the story and acting are questionable, so I completely understand why someone may think it’s not “good.” Good is such a subjective word when it comes to art, so you’re bound to see many different opinions.
I love Invincible. I think the story is thought-provoking. Characters like Nolan, Titan, and Cecil are interesting and keep me emotionally invested. I find the show enjoyable and the storytelling high-quality. But the animation is a 4/10 at best, especially when you compare it to the quality of the writing. Despite the lackluster animation, I still think it’s good.
I love Jujutsu Kaisen, but it’s the exact opposite of Invincible. The animation is great, but the storytelling leaves much to be desired. I still consider it good overall.

On the other hand, I don’t like Marvel’s Spider-Man video games. They have good storytelling and great graphics, but I just don’t find them enjoyable. They just aren’t for me. Then I love the movie Jason X. “Jason Voorhees in space” is the premise of the film. It has bad storytelling and bad visuals, but it’s so ridiculously bad that it’s hilarious. It’s enjoyable.

Now that I’ve given you an idea of my criteria and personal taste…
The Kagurabachi manga has none of these problems. It is enjoyable, it has great storytelling, and it has beautiful artwork. I would put it in the category of being objectively good. You would have to nitpick to find things you don’t like.
Common complaints about Kagurabachi are that it’s generic, typical, average, and just a shonen in essence. These aren’t bad complaints to have if you’re the creator of the series. Kagurabachi is shonen. I firmly believe that if you like Bleach or Naruto, you would love Kagurabachi. It’s 119 chapters in, and with the current Seitei War arc, it’s clear that Takeru hasn’t even scratched the surface of the story he could tell.

There has always been an underlying worry about legacy in the story. There has always been a debate over what actually went on in the war and what Kunishige’s intentions with the enchanted blades actually were. Ever since Samura joined the story, I think Kagurabachi has changed for the better in terms of lore, and I feel bad for anyone who stopped reading before his introduction.
To put things in perspective with other Shonen Jump series during their 119th chapters:
- JJK: Sukuna finished off Mahoraga in Shibuya.
- Naruto: Orochimaru reanimated the First and Second Hokage to fight Sarutobi.
- Bleach: Ichigo and friends were sneaking around the Soul Society.
- One Piece: Dorry and Brogy were fighting in Little Garden.
Kagurabachi could be just getting started, or it could be halfway over for all we know. Either way, I recommend reading it before the anime comes out so you can feel cool when everyone else starts glazing it.
